Car Emergency Kit
Road emergencies can happen at any time and no matter where you are. There's no way around them, and no way to avoid them. The best we can do is be prepared! Part of that preparation is having an emergency kit stocked in your vehicle. What should this kit have? Let us help.
If you get stuck, you'll need a way to get out.
Make sure you pack:
- A Shovel
- Rope
- Sand
- Chains
With the above, whether you're stuck in the snow, or on ice, you'll have what you need to get yourself moving again.
If you're stuck and can't get moving, you're going to need to be able to keep warm and stay comfortable.
- Blankets
- Sweaters
- Long underwear
- Mitts/Gloves
- Hats
If you're stuck and/or lost, you're better off staying in your vehicle until help arrives.
In an emergency, you'll need to be able to call or signal for help. To make sure that you can, pack the following:
- Charging cables
- Portable batteries/chargers
- Flares/Reflective Triangles
These items will let you contact emergency services, and also notify vehicles passing by that you're there and need help.
A roadside emergency can sometimes be longer than expected. In those situations, you want to be sure that you and your family will be fed for the time that you're stuck. Pack your emergency kit with non-perishable foods like:
- Granola bars
- Dried fruit
- Crackers
- Candy
- Juice boxes
- Water
Emergencies can happen at any time, but by packing your emergency kit, you can be ready for whatever might come your way
